Lets start at the beginning
What is a Pension Sharing Report?
A Pension Sharing Report, often called a ‘PODE report’, is an expert assessment used to help both parties fully understand their pensions and reach fair financial decisions about sharing them.
They establish accurate pension values
They model retirement income for different settlement options
They recommend a fair pension share for both parties
They assess whether pensions should be offset against other assets
Precision, fairness and fully informed decisions, whether you’re legally represented or not.

Do I need a Solicitor to get a PODE report?
More people than ever are navigating divorce without legal representation.
Some PODEs only accept solicitor-led cases. We don’t think access to clarity and peace of mind should depend on whether you’re represented. We stay impartial in non-solicitor-led cases by:
Keeping all communication transparent and shared with both parties
Copying both parties into all email correspondence
Holding post-report discussions with both parties present
Most PODE reports are written for lawyers. Ours are written for you.
Why might I need a PODE report?
Pensions are often one of the most valuable assets in a marriage, but also the most misunderstood. Mistakes are easy to make.
You may need a report because:
You have been instructed to get one by the Court
You have been advised to get one by a lawyer or mediator
You want to know how much of your pensions to share
To inform decision making about offsetting and ensure fairness
A PODE report helps ensure the long-term impacts of your financial agreements are properly understood.
Do I need a PODE report?
Can I just use the CEV?
If you ask a pension provider for a valuation, what you get is a CEV or Cash Equivalent Value. Sounds simple.
But CEV’s can be wildly inaccurate. Sometimes the difference can be hundreds of thousands of pounds. Life-changing amounts.
A Pension On Divorce Expert (PODE) will conduct in depth analysis and calculate the real value of your pensions. Then recommend how to share this asset fairly or how its value could be offset against other marital assets like property.
What others say
-
The financial side of my divorce has been by far the most stressful. The clarity and precision of your report really felt like a lightbulb moment which started to make things feel better.

I wasn't even sure that we needed a PODE report. What a mistake not getting one would have been! I would have been £238k worse off in retirement than I will be now.

A neutral pension expert getting to grips with the numbers even helped reduce the conflict between us. I'm no legal expert so I really appreciated how accessible the final report was.

In more depth
What is a PODE?
A PODE (Pensions on Divorce Expert) is a highly trained independent specialist who helps make sense of pensions during divorce, ensuring they’re accurately understood and divided fairly. Acting as a neutral voice, they translate complex pension details into clear options.
What’s their role?
PODEs are what are called Single Joint Experts, a single, neutral specialist appointed by both parties in a divorce to bring clarity to complex areas like pensions. Rather than two conflicting opinions, they provide one impartial view, helping everyone understand what’s fair.
How long do PODE reports take?
Divorce is stressful, so we move quickly.
We’ll deliver your Pension Sharing Report within 10 working days - once we have the necessary data and documentation from your pension provider.
Provider response times vary, but we chase weekly and keep you posted throughout.
How our process works
-
Use our free assessment tool to understand whether a PODE report is necessary and if so which type would best suit your circumstances.
Have a conversation about the result with the other party.
-
Make a joint decision to instruct us and complete our online instruction form.
Both make the initial payment and share the documents we need, so that we can start work on your case.
-
We request, collate and organise the data we need from pension providers to enable us to fully analyse your situation.
Once received you will both make the final payment and we’ll then start constructing your report.
-
We’ll conduct in depth analysis and do the calculations required to work out how to best share your pensions, or offset them against other assets.
-
10 working days later you’ll both receive your PODE report. With clear recommendations about how to enable a fair pension share, or how the value should be offset against other marital assets.
-
If helpful, we can point you towards other trusted professionals to implement your pension share or help with other financial planning needs which have been identified.
